Gunnar Alexandersson

Dr. Gunnar Alexandersson has more than 20 years of experience as a researcher in transport economics at Stockholm School of Economics, resulting in numerous publications. His PhD thesis tracked the origin, development and effects of regulatory reforms in the Swedish bus and railway sectors. For a period in 2007-2008 he worked as Senior Economics Policy Adviser at the Community of European Railways and Infrastructure Companies (CER) in Brussels, dealing with e.g. dossiers on infrastructure charging and the internalisation of external costs of transport. More recently he has been deputy CEO at the Association of Swedish Train Operating Companies (ASTOC), addressing issues related to e.g. regulations and market opening. In May 2013 Dr. Alexandersson was appointed by the Swedish Government to lead a committee looking into the current and future organisation of the railway sector. The committee has delivered two intermediary reports and the final report is expected in December 2015.
