In the nineties Joost Mortier joined IBM which at that time was facing a major challenge to change from a “hardware” to an IT service company. At IBM he managed dynamic complex projects. He enjoyed the business culture, the International environment and above all working in a team overstepping achievements that nobody expected. In 2005 when the whole public transport in the Netherlands was challenged to introduce a complete new paperless technology for ticketing, the Dutch Railways asked Joost to help them with introduction of the OV- Chipcard. Ten years later the way of travelling of 14 million Dutch people has been changed, as well as the entire operational environment of distribution and services of ticketing. Joost is eager to elaborate and share with you the evolution of the national smart card infrastructure.
